Jane 2019 FFA

“This is my second year in FFA. I basically joined because I grew up known as a “farm kid” and I thought it was a club for those types of kids. I have learned a ton about agriculture, but more about leadership and even confidence in myself. I have always tried to do as many competitions as I can, kinda to get out of school, but that ended up paying off. I made it to state then nationals last year and that was one of my best memories. That competition, hall of chapters/states, influenced me more than I knew at the time. I have realized since then that my social skills improved immensely and I have so much more confidence talking to people. Half of the points in hall of chapters/states was based on presentation without a script and talking to random people as they walked by. Seeing all the differences of opinion and knowledge really opened my eyes, since I was talking to people from all ages and whereabouts. FFA has also lead me to meet a ton of people from schools around my own. I show pigs as my SAE project and I have met some of my favorite people through it, even my best friend. Honestly, I don’t know where I would be without this club.”
