Tressa 2019 FFA

“From before I could remember, I was around animals of all kinds. I was on a horse before I could walk and always out with Dad helping him feed the cows. It was kind of my second home outside with the animals. Once I got into third grade, I jumped into 4-H. I started out showing sheep and was immediately hooked on showing. Dad really wanted me to get into showing cattle because it was what he knew. I chose to take a steer to the fair my third year showing and really enjoyed it. From there, I purchased a registered Black Angus heifer two years ago. I took her to numerous shows around Washington State. Along with my heifer, my sister and I have a club lamb business from which we produce quality lambs and sell to local 4-Hers and FFA members. I recently purchased another heifer that is my up and coming show heifer for this season. Just this last school year, I had the opportunity to join the Moses Lake FFA chapter. My mom used to be the FFA adviser at the High School before I was born, and my sister is very involved in the chapter as well. So, I jumped into it with both feet. Getting into the contests mostly, I have really liked being in FFA. The contests that I am doing this year are Creed Speaking, First Year CDE, Novice Parli, Agronomy, Livestock Judging, and Horse Judging. I think that the best part about being in FFA is meeting new people. When you attend any events, there are always people that you can learn from. Making connections and meeting new people is a great skill that I have started to strengthen while being in FFA. Some of the most supportive people that have helped me through starting FFA are my chapter officers, my parents, and advisers. I really enjoy being in FFA and it has helped me grow as an individual. I really appreciate my parents that have helped my passion for agriculture grow as well as all the people who have helped me along my way to where I am today.”
