Elisha 2017 FFA
“My family has a farm and we run about 200 head of cattle and have about 600 acres. We grow alfalfa hay. I like working on the farm and helping my Dad. We are calving right now. Last spring my sister and I purchased 6 ewes from our neighbor, so we are lambing right now too. The lambs that we are raising right now are called club lambs, because they are ready for 4-H kids to take to the fair. I’ve been showing sheep for seven years, I’ve been pretty successful, winning some grand champions and some round robins. It’s a lot of fun. I’ve been showing horses for six years. Right now I have a two year old filly that I have been training. I have taken her to the fair in the green horse class. I have been showing beef for five years and this spring I purchased a purebred Angus heifer and she will be bred soon. Then I will be able to show her calf. I have been pretty successful showing beef as well; I’ve won some grand champions. I am a freshman and this is my first year in FFA. I have participated in the creed contest and I just placed second in sub districts, so I’ll be moving on to districts. I’m also in novice parli and we will be competing in May. I am working to get on the meats team and livestock judging. My Mom was an Ag teacher, she quit when I was born and I am thinking on going on to be an Ag teacher too.”
